Utility Laborer with CDL

JOB SUMMARY:

Capital's Utilities team is looking for utility construction laborers for current and upcoming project needs across San Antonio who will support the teams with duties such as: Site clean-up, tool and material organization, manual digging and trenching, and assisting the team as needed with basic duties such as using power tools and power washers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lift and carry material and equipment weighing up to to 80 lbs
• Drive CDL vehicles
• Manually dig trenches for underground utility lines using shovels and by hand
• Haul dirt, sand, grass, using wheelbarrows
• Spread and level dirt and sand
• Work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold) across the San Antonio area
• Perform site clean-up duties such as: Sweeping, shoveling, throwing away trash, using power washer to clean driveways and sidewalks
• Carry out safety policies in place to avoid site hazards (setting up cones, moving material and equipment off driveways and sidewalks, wearing required PPE)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working outdoors in the elements (extreme heat and cold)
• current CDL and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Report
• Ability to carry up to 80 lbs
• Strong attention to detail and strong initiative - able to ask for direction once tasks are completed
• Reliable transportation
• Safety oriented mentality - Able to see potential job hazards and mitigate, as needed
• PREFERRED:
  • Underground utility experience
  • Heavy equipment operating skills
